Wandelgids Karawanken - Slovenie - Walking in the Karavanke | Cicerone
Wandelgids Karawanken - Slovenie - Walking in the Karavanke | Cicerone
Goede wandelgids met veel dagtochten; redelijk kaartmateriaal en goede praktische informatie. This guidebook offers 23 walking routes set across the magnificent 120km-long Karavanke mountain range, which forms a natural border between Austria and Slovenia. Commonly known as 'the way the Alps used to be', as it is yet to experience the extent of commercial development known by the Western Alps, it is one of the longest ranges in Western Europe but it remains genuinely unspoilt and relatively unvisited by English-speaking hillwalkers. The guide's walks begin in pretty towns and villages, and most of them access the peaks from the relatively more gentle Slovenian side of the range, where forest-clad slopes lead to grassy summits where spectacular views can be enjoyed. Arranged by peak from west to east along the range, most of the summits can be reached by waymarked paths and trails. The guide gives all the practical details you need on transport, accessing the routes, accommodation and a…

A long-distance coast-to-coast route on the GR131 is included, and shorter walks can be linked to form longer itineraries. One of the larger Canary Islands, Gran Canaria is a popular destination but offers many peaceful, rural areas perfect for walking.   Seasons High summer is popular, but too hot for walking. Good winter walking is possible, with only a very rare chance of snow on high mountains. Spring is ideal and autumn is tolerable.   Centres Most people stay in the city or resorts - Las Palmas, Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés - but there are quieter alternatives.   Difficulty Routes vary from short and easy to long and arduous. Pathfinder Guide to Essex offers excellent lowland walking in the south-east of England. The routes are all circular exploring the finer countryside of the county, in a series of parkland, farmland, woodland and coastal and estuarine walks, visiting its places of historic interest, attractive towns and charming villages. Given the pleasant and undramatic nature of the terrain, routes only really vary in length in terms of difficulty and there is a general progression through the book from shortest to longest. Beginning with a short walk linking Laindon Common with Great and Little Burstead, encountering the infant River Crouch, the book progresses to a near 10-mile excursion across Bradwell Marsh, with its wide open horizons, and a visit to the isolated and tiny Saxon chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall. Sea air can also be taken on walks from Walton-on-the-Naze, a circuit of the eastern end of Mersea Island, along St Osyth Creek, at Maldon, from Burnham-on-Crouch, and overlooking Benfleet …

Productomschrijving

This guidebook presents 30 contrasting day walks exploring the mountains, valleys and coastline of Carmarthernshire in south-west Wales. Ranging from 2 to 10 miles in length and suitable for walkers of all abilities, the routes introduce the varied walking on offer in this county, including parts of the Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains.   Alongside detailed route descriptions and clear OS mapping, the book is packed with interesting information about the places and heritage encountered. Notes on landscape, geology and wildlife of the area are included, and for each walk there is useful practical information on transport and refreshments.   A county of contrasts with around 1850 miles of footpaths, Carmarthernshire is a walker's paradise. Highlights include the Black Mountains (Mynydd Du), the Teifi Valley, Camarthen Bay, the southwestern Coast, and 'Dylan Thomas Country' around Laugharne.   Activities Walking   Seasons The walks can be done at any time of year, but the drier months from April to October would suit the higher mountain walks.   Centres Most of the walks can be reached, either by car or public transport, from Carmarthen, Llandeilo, Llanelli and Llandovery   Difficulty The walks are organised by level of difficulty, based on length, amount of ascent and the type of terrain they cover. Some are quite short with little effort required, others require considerably more time and can be quite challenging, as they head out into open country where knowledge of map and compass use is highly recommended.   Must See With mile upon mile of golden sands, breathtaking mountain scenery, fast-flowing rivers, quiet upland lakes, attractive market towns, extensive tracts of forest, evocative castle ruins, empty country lanes and a rich industrial heritage, it is not surprising that Carmarthenshire is fast becoming a walking hotspot.
