Turning or replacing a sprocket is then very easy without a chain whip or cassette removal tool. Due to the same component basis (screw connection), existing hubs can be retrofitted or converted with this splined system. When converting from screw-on to plug-in sprockets, please also order the Splined Carrier or, in special cases, Splined Carrier S. Rohloff offers a template to check for collisions between the frame strut and the sprocket. When using the plug-in sprocket system, the chain tensioner requires the long frame bolt. To ensure that it runs smoothly and without defects for a long time, you should change the oil every 5000 kilometres or once a year. Use the cleaning oil to remove abrasion and any water that may have penetrated the internally geared hub, and top up the gear oil to ensure that your drivetrain runs smoothly and quietly.
