Well, now it does and the last frontier of mapping the world has been breached. The part of Russia east of the Ural Mountains is vast; there is no other word to describe the enormity of this region of grassland and tundra. Technically, it does not extend all the way to the Pacific Ocean, but it does go from the Arctic Ocean to the Chinese and Mongolian borders. It is no secret that the area surrounding Barcelona, called Catalunya, has long harboured a strong desire to separate from Spain (the adjacent Basque region has also coveted independence for as long as I can remember). Our regional map extends beyond the strict boundaries of the province/pseudo independent state of Catalunya and is actually a very good map of the east coast of Spain as far south as Valencia, but lets not split hairs. ITMB is gradually mapping the entire USA in appropriate scales. Most States fit fairly well into the 1:500 to 1:750T scale, and Utah is perfect for mapping. It is also a perfectly nice place to visit, so we are pleased to add it to our program. This map shares a sheet with Colorado, so please note that the ordering information is the same. Utah is Mormon country and the temple in Salt Lake City is a sight to see. The Great Salt Lake to its west is interesting to view, but more popular is the Bonneville Salt Flats at its western edge, where so many speed records have been won. Utah also has two of Americas most scenic national parks: Zion in the southwest and Canyonlands in the southeast. The map has two covers, one side saying Belgium and Luxembourg, with a cover picture of a town square, and the other side says Netherlands and Belgium, with a cover picture of a windmill. The map's artwork is completely new and different from the previous edition, and much more in keeping with ITMB's style for Europe. Motorways are in blue, main roads in green, and other roads in red casing. Road distances between points are noted, as well as motorway rest areas, and touristic sites such as windmills, noteworthy churches, and camping areas.     This is the latest American regional map that ITMB has published. This one covers Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and parts of Idaho, New Mexico, and Arizona. It is, of course, the southern extension of the Canadian Rockies map through Blue Sky Montana and Mile High Denver. This is a double-sided map concentrating on roads and road quality, parks, touristic attractions, and urban areas. We feel that the state-by-state approach to mapping the USA just does not work well. With todays infrastructure and vehicular capability, one can pass through three or four states in a normal day drive.  Legend Includes: Roads by classification, US Divided Highway, Mountain peak, State park, National park, Ferry Route, Historic Route 66, Hot Spring, Museum, Skiing, Beach, Cave and much more.

To me, the north side is the most interesting, covering the portion of Laos from Vientiane, the capital, to the Chinese border. Detailed inset maps of Vientiane and Louang Prabang, the temple city, are included on this side, as are bits of both Thailand and Vietnam. The south portion fills the other side of the sheet, including a goodly portion of Vietnam, showing all border crossings. Much of Thailand has had to be obscured, unfortunately, to make room for the place names index, but the immediate border areas are shown, including the rail line south from Vientiane. In an interesting departure from previous ITMB maps, the back cover consists of a detailed inset map of Vientiane at 1:16,000 scale, making it easy to use in…

This map is brand new artwork at a much more attractive scale than the previous version; printed double-sided with much more information than was available to us when the original map was being developed. We’ve also added a few capsule comments about interesting facts related to the two countries, and large inset maps of Lome and Porto Novo. The map is divided into a north half and south half, as most attractions are in the south. This map has been a difficult update, coming in the midst of the turmoil in Haiti caused by the earthquake in the spring of 2010. This is actually two separate maps sharing a single sheet of paper. The Dom Rep side was fairly straight-forward to update, as there has been little change, but the Haiti side needed a lot of time and energy. The earthquake revealed a previously unrealized reality – nobody had any information on Haiti. Our map was the only one in existence, and it proved to be too weak to meet the needs of humanitarian groups. They, however, provided a wealth of useful information as they reached out to isolated villages about road conditions, spelling of place names, and actual locations, which we have added to our artwork.
