The place names index is formidable, but England in particular is a series of little villages, so it has been very difficult to decide what to include and what to leave out. This map is showing motorways, divided carriageways, all A & B highways, railway lines, airports, historic sites and touristic attractions, parks and gardens, and just about everything that we could fit on to the page to provide users with a detailed, usable map. There are too many castles to count, but some of the best preserved in the British Isles are in Wales, notable Caernarfon, but nearby Harlech is a World Heritage Site. St, David’s must be one of the smallest and loveliest cathedrals in the world, and Tintern Abbey ruins among the most poignant anywhere. This is a new title for ITMB, in that it is the first time we have mapped the State of Washington. The actual area of the map includes Portland and northern Oregon and Vancouver and the border area with the USA. A small portion of Idaho is also shown. Wilderness campsites, parks such as Rainier, Olympic, and Baker, are shown. Seattle as a city, stretches far beyond the confines of a practical map in that it stretches from Everett to Tacoma. Our map covers from the University in the north to the Beacon Hill neighbourhood in the south and from the waterfront to Lake Washington. An inset map of the greater region is included. Most visitors to the UK fly into one of London's four airports and combine a visit to the city with an opportunity to travel to various destinations within striking distance of London. England is so incredibly rich in heritage and scenic attractions that it is extremely difficult to portray the country as a map of the entire entity. As a result, England lends itself nicely to be divided into a central/northern portion and a southern portion. To fit areas as diverse as Cornwall and Norwich on one sheet, one needs to have a vertical frame, with Devon/Cornwall up to the top of Wales on one side and Wiltshire to Kent up to York (admittedly, not normally considered to be part of 'southern', but vertically, that's what happens. The northern mountain states of the USA are now the most recent portion of ITMB’s re-mapping of the USA for travel. We had to include a small portion of Washington State and Oregon, due to the shape of Idaho, but the double-sided sheet covers the three states with very little room left over. Side 1 stretches from the Alberta border to Salt Lake City, in Utah, and from west of Spokane to Helena, MT. The 2nd side covers from the Canadian border south to Cheyanne, and is essentially a map of Montana and Wyoming. As such, this is the most detailed map of this region of the USA ever published, and pretty much completes our mapping of the western half of the continental USA. We have also added a new feature – a list of the most popular sites – for those with limited time, showing such well-known features as Glacier National Park and the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. United States of America (USA) Travel Reference Map has been mapped before, but the USA is a huge country, extremely developed, and almost impossible to show on a map without over-simplification. Most commercial maps use small sheets of paper and print single-sided, making it impossible to show this vast country to advantage. Well, Lan’s been hard at work developing a ‘proper’ traveller’s aid to navigating around the USA, and here it is. We printed it on an exceptionally large sheet of paper, 39” tall by 54” wide (our normal printing size is 27”x39”). To do this, we merged our four existing databases into one, then split them so that the west side is on one side and the east side on the other.
