The north is also very different from the south, so we decided to expand our data base for India and publish a map covering India from Hyderabad and Mumbai south to the southern tip of the country. As the country economically modernizes, it becomes better known. As a country, India is fascinating and a great travel experience. I well remember visiting the temple city of Tiruchirappalli many years ago and travelling by local trains (an experience that tends to sear itself on to ones memory cells!) Interesting-sounding names fill the map: Madurai, Kochi, Bangalore, Nagpur, and Pune; the map reeks of adventure and exoticism!

As a travel destination, Bangladesh has to be considered as part of a trip to India for most people, so in addition to updating and modernizing our artwork, we have added a map of the easternmost portion of India, showing access routes and sites of interest in both countries. One of the great treats of Bangladesh is to take a ferry from Dhaka to Khulna, a two-day trip. Tibet is fascinating and controversial. It has been occupied by China since Chairman Mao send hordes of Chinese troops into the country and annexed it to China, expanding its borders somewhat by over-running parts of northern India a bit later. We do our best to portray the country as it is, without getting overly involved in the political ramifications, which are pretty severe. At the moment, the Chinese authorities seem to be clamping down on tourism, due to simmering unrest. However, the country, or self-governing province of China is a beautiful place and deserves a good map. It is extremely difficult to get updating information on Tibet; we've done our best, but this is very much a work in progress. Peru at 1:1,500,000 on a double-sided, waterproof and tear-resistant, indexed map from ITMB, with large, clear street plans of central Lima and Cusco, highlighting accommodation, places of interest and various facilities. The map divides the country north/south, approximately along the line between the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huyahuash, with very little overlap between the two sides. Topography is very effectively presented by altitude colouring, with spot heights and additional graphics for swamps and marshland, glaciers and volcanos. The map shows the country’s road network distinguishing between all-weather and seasonable roads and indicates driving distances on main routes.
