This is our third edition of this country and each one keeps getting better. We can’t justify sending a researcher into a combat zone to gather data, but we are thankful to those aid workers and soldiers who have added to our information base and helped make this map more useful. Peru at 1:1,500,000 on a double-sided, waterproof and tear-resistant, indexed map from ITMB, with large, clear street plans of central Lima and Cusco, highlighting accommodation, places of interest and various facilities. The map divides the country north/south, approximately along the line between the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huyahuash, with very little overlap between the two sides. Topography is very effectively presented by altitude colouring, with spot heights and additional graphics for swamps and marshland, glaciers and volcanos. The map shows the country’s road network distinguishing between all-weather and seasonable roads and indicates driving distances on main routes. Toronto is a city of 2.8M people and the heartland of an economic region serving 100,000,000 people in two countries. Southern Ontario is also home for six million residents, some of the most historic sites in the country, and major recreational land masses (Algonquin Park, Bruce Trail, Muskoka/Haliburton). Indonesia is a huge and varied country of many islands and many cultures. The Javanese dominate the country. Not only is the island centrally located, but the rich soil and hard-working people has turned the island into the economic powerhouse driving the country’s economy. Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, is located on the island’s north shore, and is the subject of a separate ITM map. This map concentrates on the island’s many charms: the temples of Yogyakarta, the colonial architecture of Surabaya, and the rustic charm of mountainous East Java. The map abounds in insets, including central Jakarta at 1:25 000, but also Cirebon, Bandung, and Solo, Semarang, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Malang, and Yoga to Prambanan at 1:90,000, and the Dieng Plateau at 1:35,000. We are always pleased to announce the release of a new title. The Straits of Gibraltar, as this map should be named is historically significant as the crossing point between Europe and North Africa and, more recently, as the guardian of the Mediterranean. It is now moving into a new era – tourism. The city/colony of Gibraltar itself is well worth a visit, and a detailed map is provided. The Spanish city/colony on the North African coast is equally interesting and is also shown, as is Tangier and a good stretch of the Moroccan north coast. This map is printed single-sided, on paper.
