To me, the north side is the most interesting, covering the portion of Laos from Vientiane, the capital, to the Chinese border. Detailed inset maps of Vientiane and Louang Prabang, the temple city, are included on this side, as are bits of both Thailand and Vietnam. The south portion fills the other side of the sheet, including a goodly portion of Vietnam, showing all border crossings. Much of Thailand has had to be obscured, unfortunately, to make room for the place names index, but the immediate border areas are shown, including the rail line south from Vientiane. In an interesting departure from previous ITMB maps, the back cover consists of a detailed inset map of Vientiane at 1:16,000 scale, making it easy to use in…

This map is brand new artwork at a much more attractive scale than the previous version; printed double-sided with much more information than was available to us when the original map was being developed. We’ve also added a few capsule comments about interesting facts related to the two countries, and large inset maps of Lome and Porto Novo. The map is divided into a north half and south half, as most attractions are in the south. The artwork has been digitally-prepared, and this time printed double-sided to achieve a MUCH better scale. We have included a regional inset map of the Caracas area, and insets of the Roraima Mountains region, but the size of Venezuela is such that the rest of the paper consists solely of the country itself. The southern portion remains relatively unexplored and undeveloped, with few roads and only the occasional settlement, and the northern coastal region shows the road network very well. This is the first new map of Venezuela in many years. Sure, the government is too corrupt and the country gets schmucked every time there's a hurricane, but the people are friendly and hard-working and gradually improving their country. As a travel destination, Bangladesh has to be considered as part of a trip to India for most people, so in addition to updating and modernizing our artwork, we have added a map of the easternmost portion of India, showing access routes and sites of interest in both countries. One of the great treats of Bangladesh is to take a ferry from Dhaka to Khulna, a two-day trip. This is a brand new title for ITMB. Denver, the ‘mile-high’ city on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, is a vibrant, fairly modern city. It is the state capital, and the gold-coated dome of the legislative building highlights the wealth and strength of the state. The Denver Zoo is becoming one of the great attractions of the city, as are the Center for Performing Arts and the Museum of Science and Nature. Larimer Square is the focal point for entertainment, and Coors Field for sports. Our map shows a wide-ranging number of accommodations and eateries, and notes all points of interest. The State of Colorado map fills the reverse side of the sheet and, due to the positioning of the state’s boundaries, nicely fills the 40x28 sheet size of the map. Well, now it does and the last frontier of mapping the world has been breached. The part of Russia east of the Ural Mountains is vast; there is no other word to describe the enormity of this region of grassland and tundra. Technically, it does not extend all the way to the Pacific Ocean, but it does go from the Arctic Ocean to the Chinese and Mongolian borders. Utah is Mormon country and the temple in Salt Lake City is a sight to see. The Great Salt Lake to its west is interesting to view, but more popular is the Bonneville Salt Flats at its western edge, where so many speed records have been won. Utah also has two of Americas most scenic national parks: Zion in the southwest and Canyonlands in the southeast.
