It is for them, and all other Dutch readers interested in English, that this book has been written. Voertaal: English is a collection of lively and informative columns about English aimed specifically at native Dutch speakers. Written by an American journalist of Dutch descent, these columns cover everything from the language of CVs to the grammatical challenge of the dangling participle. Along the way readers learn how to pronounce key words in presentations, how to get foreigners to say their names properly, and how to respond when an American dares make a disparaging reference to a 'Dutch treat'. More than simply a survival guide for Dutch professionals in a globalizing world, Voertaal: English, like its predecessor Native English for Nederlanders, is an entertaining survey of the difficulties, but also of the joys, of speaking proper English. Dit boek is een bundeling van columns in het Engels over de fouten die Nederlanders, met name zij die al gevorderd Engels denken te spreken, kunnen maken. Het is een vervolg op het populaire Native English for Nederlanders (vijf drukken in evenzoveel maanden). Ronald van de Krol werd geboren en groeide op in Amerika en studeerde in Oxford, Engeland, maar kwam op zijn 25ste naar het land van zijn voorouders terug. Sindsdien werkt hij hier als journalist. Momenteel is hij redacteur bij Het Financieele Dagblad, waarvoor hij ook de column 'De Engelse ziekte' schreef.
