Het gebruik van een ronde kern en een hybride omwikkeling zorgt voor een grotere massa van de snaar met een lagere spanning dan conventionele sets. Waar traditionele sets in hogere gauges snel te veel volume in het laag en te veel boventonen geven is een Plectrum set optimaal in balans.
