    Exile on Main St. is een studioalbum van de Engelse rockband The Rolling Stones, uitgebracht op 26 mei 1972 door Rolling Stones Records. De 10e uitgebracht in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en de 12e in de VS, wordt gezien als het hoogtepunt van een reeks van de meest kritische succesvolle albums van de band, na Beggars Banquet (1968), Let It Bleed (1969) en Sticky Fingers (1971). Exile on Main St. staat bekend om zijn duistere, inconsistente geluid als gevolg van meer onsamenhangende muzikaliteit en productie, samen met een feestelijke sfeer die in verschillende nummers te horen is.De opname begon in 1969 in de Olympic Studios in Londen tijdens sessies voor Sticky Fingers, en de belangrijkste sessies begonnen halverwege 1971 in een gehuurde villa in Zuid-Frankrijk genaamd Nellcôte nadat de band belastingballingen werd. Omdat er geen professionele studio in de buurt was, werkten ze met een mobiele opnamestudio en namen ze in eigen huis op. De losse en ongeorganiseerde Nellcôte-sessies duurden…
