The Quality of Life in Youth Services Scale (QOLYSS) (Paperback)
The Quality of Life in Youth Services Scale (QOLYSS) (Paperback)
Individual quality of life has been widely used as a frame of reference guiding service provision in social and health services, as well as a critical objective or outcome of these services. Yet, the topic of quality of life in the context of child and youth care remains a relatively uncharted territory. This dissertation is based on a practice-oriented project that focuses on bridging the gap between research and practice on the topic of quality of life of adolescents in youth care. This work concentrates on the development, validation, and application of a new self-report tool, grounded in youngsters' experiences and perceptions, to methodically and systematically assess the quality of life of adolescents in youth care from their own perspectives: the Quality of Life in Youth Services Scale (QOLYSS). The QOLYSS aims to help understand how youngsters perceive, evaluate, and make sense of varying discrete aspects and circumstances of their lives. This line of work offers valuable

Turkish-Dutch and Moroccan-Dutch female professionals in social work (Paperback)
Turkish-Dutch and Moroccan-Dutch female professionals in social work (Paperback)
This qualitative research, carried out between 2012 and 2016 at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (HU) in the Netherlands, explores the experiences of newly-started Turkish-Dutch and Moroccan-Dutch female professionals in social work. The key research question was how these professionals perceive and position themselves in relation to their profession. The professionals were actively involved as co-researchers in parts of the research, doing research with peers from the same background. The last section of the research also discusses and explores the experiences of social work educators by including their perspective. The Turkish-Dutch and Moroccan-Dutch female professionals want to bring their cultural and religious background to bear on their work as professionals. They want to bring in faith and spirituality, as this is a source of strength and support for them, and attempt to stretch the 'boundaries' of what it means to be a professional. They would also like to see their

Productomschrijving

In March 2016 the Dutch Case Studies Project began in which about fifty chaplains participated as co-researchers in collecting practice-based evidence on what chaplains aim for, how they pursue it, and with what results. The chaplain-researchers produced case studies which were discussed collaboratively in research communities which were chaired by academic researchers. The engagement of chaplains in research can be understood from the development in the profession of integrating research into chaplaincy. While it is presumed that research benefits chaplains' practices, so far the impact of research on chaplains' practice had not been studied. Based on mixed-methods (observation, interviews, survey, focus groups), this dissertation describes, analyzes and reflects on the perceived change of chaplains' professionalism as a result of their participation in the Case Studies Project. This practical theological research provides insight in the value of the double role of chaplain-researcher
