    Na een moeilijke periode in haar leven heeft schrijfster Kaylee Sloan een huisje gehuurd in Virgin River om aan haar nieuwe boek te werken. Daar aangekomen komt ze er tot haar schrik achter dat haar huisje net in vlammen is opgegaan! Niet wetend wat ze nu moet doen, stapt ze Jack's Bar binnen, en daar ontmoet ze kunstenaar en hondentrainer Landry Moore, die meteen zijn hulp aanbiedt en haar onderdak geeft.
