The extremely low profile and the flat angle of attack also benefit safety on difficult, narrow trails. In addition, compared to its predecessors, the RD-M8000 knows how to handle a slanted chain better and has larger derailleur pulley teeth for even smoother shifting performance. In the Dyna-Sys11 system, it thus performs its service efficiently and permanently. Both cages of the rear derailleur are made of lightweight aluminium. The shorter version (GS) is compatible with 1x11 and 2x11-speed gears and cassettes up to 46 or 42 teeth. In the long version (SGS) it can also be used for 3x11-speed drivetrains with an 11-40 cassette.
