Het schakelen gaat soepeler en de ketting- stabiliteit is verbeterd ten opzichte van de RD-610. De Shimano Deore M6000 achterderailleur staat voor betrouwbaar schakelen met een stijf en open ontwerp. Dankzij de Shadow technologie zit de achterderaileur beschermd onder de cassette. De + in Shadow+ staat voor de mogelijkheid voor het aanpassen van de veerspanning zodat de ketting niet gaat klapperen.
