Product Description Shimano 105 Disc Brake with BR-R7170 caliper and ST-R7170 Di2 shift/brake lever The disc brake for the 105 road bike groupset from Shimano consists of the BR-R7170 and ST-R7170. These are a flat-mount brake calipers for front or rear and an electronic shift/brake lever that enables wireless 2x or 12-speed shifting and hydraulic braking. The set includes organic brake pads, which contribute to improved heat dissipation with their Ice Tech cooling fins, a brake hose as well as connection material. The 105 R7170 disc brake caliper has 10% more brake pad clearance than its predecessor model. This minimises the likelihood of grinding noises and thus results in a quieter braking process. The powerful, excellently controllable braking power ensures reliable deceleration and brings you to a safe stop in all conditions. You also benefit from the user-friendly bleeding process, also known as One-Way Bleeding. With its flat mount design, the two-piece aluminium brake caliper also blends in perfectly with the overall appearance of your bike. By the way, the R7170 does not weigh more than the comparable Ultegra model. The 105 ST-R7170 Di2 shift/brake lever has an upwardly extended grip bar end which offers a very ergonomic hold. In addition, you can easily adjust the grip width to your hand size with the help of a 2 mm hex tool. Thanks to the increased braking range and the sensitive lever action, you have full control over all braking processes, and the pressure point is also adjustable. At the same time, the shift/brake levers weigh only about 30 grams per pair more than the Ultegra model. Of course, as before with Dura-Ace and Ultegra, the retreaded Di2 platform is used. This means that the ST-R7170 communicates via a wireless protocol with the rear derailleur, which in turn is wired to the battery and indirectly to the front derailleur. This not only means lightning-fast, highly precise gear changes at the touch of a button.
