Its easiest to perform this with the mech on the bench, and is also a good opportunity to clean and lubricate the mech, and inside of cabinet. First remove mech covers, next position the carriage all the way to the right of the mechanism.Remove the tone arm assembly, place by the side to not pull on the wires.For machines equipped with Bodine or Nidec motors you do not have to remove the motor, for Westinghouse you will need to partially remove to give room for the shaft to drive straight.Next loosen the set screw BUT don't remove, this is located from the back of the mech near the clutch, follow the lift arm shaft. Its easiest to perform this with the mech on the bench, and is also a good opportunity to clean and lubricate the mech, and inside of cabinet. First remove mech covers, next position the carriage all the way to the right of the mechanism.Remove the tone arm assembly, place by the side to not pull on the wires.For machines equipped with Bodine or Nidec motors you do not have to remove the motor, for Westinghouse you will need to partially remove to give room for the shaft to drive straight.Next loosen the set screw BUT don't remove, this is located from the back of the mech near the clutch, follow the lift arm shaft. (3/32 allen wrench)Placing the tools smooth end squarely on the shaft next to the motor end, tap unit it starts to move, ensure the tool stays centered until its started in the body. Keep tapping moving the pin all the way.IMPORTANT, DO NOT REMOVE TOOL AT THIS TIME. the tool will remain in to keep all the spacers and parts in place.Clean all dirt and oil, reoil.Placing the detent shaft in place where it was removed, with the set screw grove facing the inside, use the other tool and slowly start driving the shaft back into place, until flush.Tighten set screw, reassemble. NOTE: DO NOT try and drive the knurled end into the mechanism. this can cause damage to the casting and also the tool. Only hammer on the knurled end.
