Michel Mazzoni. Craft (Paperback)
Focused on the questions of image-making and image display, Craft is an artist's book made up of a substantial body of images that, directly or indirectly, engage with the notion of fabrication -manufactured objects, compositional experiments, architectural forms and more. Blending photographs, exhibition views and archival material, this book has the particularity of having been conceived in close collaboration between the publisher, the artist and the author, giving new meaning to the reading and apprehension of the images, through the implementation of echo phenomena, correspondences, extensions, even mise en abyme, between the visuals and the accompanying textual data. For Michel Mazzoni, this latest work arose from a desire to share his practice differently-by revealing how his thinking and creative process evolve across the pages, as they naturally do throughout the books and exhibitions he creates. Axé sur les questions de la prise de vue et de la monstration des images, Craft

Max Pinckers (Paperback)
Max Pinckers (Paperback)
This trilingual book marks the culmination of ten years of collaboration between the photographer Max Pinckers and the writer Hans Theys, who was given permission to use a personal selection from all of Pinckers' photographs to create a classic photo book without having to take into account their original context. The publication also contains an essay in which Theys discusses Pinckers' oeuvre based on thoughts by Susan Sontag. The book is published to accompany a solo exhibition in the Photo Museum of Antwerp in November 2021.Max Pinckers (b. 1988) is a Belgian artist/photographer. In his work he explores the critical, technological and ideological structures which underpin the creation and consumption of documentary images. For Pinckers, creating a documentary is a speculative process in which reality and truth can be used as multiple and mouldable concepts. He has received several international prizes, including the Prix Levallois, the Edward Steichen Award Luxembourg and the Leica

MIcheldorf MIcheldorf MIcheldorf MIcheldorf (Paperback)
While exploring the society he grew up in, Elias Holzknecht (AT) ended up in the village of Micheldorf by chance. He became increasingly aware that no form of representation could do justice to the complexity of a social space. Even the name of the village was ambiguous, as three other Micheldorfs exist in the same country. The story therefore concentrates on all four eponymous localities. Micheldorf Micheldorf Micheldorf Micheldorf gives the impression of a linear narrative. However, there are several versions of the same book. Each version contains the same images and fragments of dialogue, but in a different order, highlighting the complexity of a story that at first glance seems clearly comprehensible.

Jean-Marie Bytebier. Rendez-vous (Paperback)
Jean-Marie Bytebier. Rendez-vous (Paperback)
Rendez-vous is the encounter between Belgian artist Jean-Marie Bytebier and Fontevraud. It's also the public's encounter with his work, presented in two distinct locations: within the permanent collections of the Fontevraud Museum of Modern Art and in the village's former presbytery. The artist has been offered two different exhibition spaces in which to install his works -one a museum with its contemporary exhibition display, the other a domestic setting with 18th-century wood paneling. Some of these works were specially created during an artistic residency at Fontevraud in December 2023, where he was able to immerse himself in the premises, the architecture, and the surrounding nature. Jean-Marie Bytebier (b.1963), lives and works in Mariakerke, Belgium. This book was published alongside the exhibition Rendez-vous at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Fontevraud-Collections Nationales Martine et Léon Cligman, from 23 March to 30 June 2024.

Futuring Spaces of Possibility (Paperback)
Futuring Spaces of Possibility (Paperback)
Futuring Spaces of Possibility explores how contemporary art and architecture address urban, social and ecological challenges and create new possibilities for the future city. It invites urban theorists, curators, artists and architects to use Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as a testbed for new spatial imaginaries. How to deal with transformation and degrowth in a city whose boundaries have been shaped by its medieval history? How to question dominant histories, use underutilised public space and set in motion new cohabitations in the city? This book is published on the occasion of Bruges Triennial 2024: Spaces of Possibility, curated by Shendy Gardin and Sevie Tsampalla. Featuring contributions by the twelve artists and architects in the exhibition, it offers insights into the research processes behind the commissions, through texts, archival images, preparatory sketches and interviews. Newly commissioned essays address issues of urban transformation and the role that

The project brings together surreal portraits of both well-known and lesser-known individuals in striking interiors. It is designed by -SYB- and features a text by Eva Gouda. In 1967 the American artist Paul Thek embarked on an extended stay in Europe. This represented a turning point in his career. The environments that he created between 1968 and 1973 in various European museums were made up of fantasy landscapes replete with symbolic meaning. The creative process, usually with the assistance of others, played a crucial role in these exhibitions. The Amsterdam-based artist Franz Deckwitz was one of those who assisted Thek but he was, above all, a loyal friend. Their friendship is documented in the Paul Thek archive that Deckwitz's family gave on permanent loan to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in 2011. Comprising letters, photographs and other documents, it forms the basis of this Boijmans Study.

Sensory Spaces (Paperback)
Sensory Spaces (Paperback)
What happens when a space adapts to the art instead of the other way around? Over the past years, a series of exhibitions in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's open foyer has challenged our perceptions of space. In 'Sensory Spaces' fifteen international artists were given carte blanche to play with the Willem van der Vorm gallery, and each seized the oppportunity to create a unique experience that heightened visitor's awareness. This final publication captures their extraordinary visions in word and image.

OASE 111 (Paperback)
OASE 111 (Paperback)
Museums not only facilitate encounters among visitors, objects and stories, but they also facilitate the staging of these visits. They organize tours of the exhibition spaces as well as provide additional publicly accessible spaces, including entrances, corridors, auditoriums and museum cafés. In nineteenth-century monumental art museums, the transition from city to museum interior was dramatized. Climbing the stairs of Schinkel's Altes Museum in Berlin or traversing the pergola between the ponds in Berlage's Kunstmuseum in The Hague urges visitors to leave the everyday world behind. The post-war, 'barrier-free' museum, with squares and streets inside and out, seems to want to abolish this city-museum boundary. At the same time, other internal boundaries are being revised, namely those between front stage and backstage. Depots are being made accessible and visitors can now take a look inside restoration studios. This edition of OASE examines how historical and contemporary buildings

IABR-2018+2020-The missing Link (Paperback)
