Berlin played an important role in the life of Theo Eissens (Amsterdam 1952-2015).     The Spanish painter José Herrera,(Madrid 1943), whose works can be found all over the world, is celebrating his fiftieth anniversary of being an artist with this publication containing images that are representative of his entire oeuvre. The influence of cubism is still perceptible in his earlier work, although it has been modelled and reduced to recognisable proportions. Inspired by his illustrious predecessors Picasso and Dali, he soon developed a highly individual style - surrealistic and colourful with undeniably Spanish traits. His later work is more figurative, but he is not a precision painter who aspires to create a lifelike representation of the world. His figures - predominantly women, either naked or clothed in dazzling garments - exude the same sense of pride and dynamism expressed in the dances of men and women in the flamenco cellars of Seville. José occasionally uses just one colour or shade in his work in which the accent is placed fully on the sober portrayal of the
