Cycladic Blues at the Museum of Cycladic Art (Paperback)
Cycladic Blues at the Museum of Cycladic Art (Paperback)
This catalogue for an exhibition of work by Marlene Dumas at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens features over 40 paintings and works on paper. It offers a cross-section of the artist's challenging representations of the human body. The works were gathered from different phases of the artist's life, in order to make combinations that would make sense to be shown together with works from the museum's collection, and are grouped into four categories: the family portrait, erotic figure, fragmented body, and portraits of sculptures. In this way her artworks enter into an anachronistic dialogue with the abstracted human forms of Cycladic figurines crafted by unknown artists several millennia ago.

Theo Eissens - Linea Recta from A to B (Hardback)
Theo Eissens - Linea Recta from A to B (Hardback)
Theo Eissens - Linea Recta from A to B On 22 March 2015 the exhibition Theo Eissens - Berlin Calling opened at the Livingstone gallery with a series of new works: unique silkscreened images on canvas of abandoned and burdened places in and around Berlin. Berlin played an important role in the life of Theo Eissens (Amsterdam 1952-2015). The title of this publication refers to the frequent trips he made from Amsterdam to Berlin and vice versa, and the recurrent long and short periods he lived and worked there, starting in 1992. My first encounter in 2001 with Theo's work were his extraordinary etchings (sometimes mixed with silkscreen) that he printed in Berlin at the world-renowned Druckwerkstatt Bethanien. This is also where he exhibited with artists like A.R. Penck and Bruce McLean (1996, Galerie im Parlement, Druckwerkstatt Bethanien, Berlin) and was able to immerse himself in German (art)history. In 2004 his focus shifted from prints on paper to works on canvas and wood panel. His

Koen van den Broek, firminy (Paperback)
Koen van den Broek, firminy (Paperback)
The mini catalogue Firminy gathers 11 paintings on paper and an in situ installation by Koen Van den Broek, made for his eponymous solo exhibition at the Regent-Reychler gallery in Saignon, in the south of France. The paintings, that belong to a larger group of similar works on paper, are inspired by the Saint-Pierre church in Firminy designed by Le Corbusier, and carry the same spirit as the building in terms of light, volume and linearity. These works reveal the interesting and direct relation between architecture and the practice of van den Broek, who originally started an education as architect before studying visual arts. The in situ installation in the gallery is a permanent intervention and a life scale interpretation of two paintings, one by the artist himself and one by Henri Matisse, who had a direct relation to the environment of the south of France.

Rein Dufait. In de Verte - De Lucht (Paperback)
Rein Dufait. In de Verte - De Lucht (Paperback)
Spanning the years 2018 to 2025, In de Verte - De Lucht offers an intimate and expansive look at the evolving practice of Belgian artist Rein Dufait. As a continuation of his earlier publication Things and Air, this new book weaves together past and recent works through diverse vantage points: exhibitions, installation views, artist publications, and sculptural gestures staged in open-air environments. With text by the artist, a critical essay by Christophe Van Gerrewey, and photographs by Cedric Verhelst, Michiel De Cleene, and Hanne Van Assche, the book captures Dufait's deepening exploration in material, form, and temporality. Known for his conceptual approach, Dufait works at the crossroads of sculpture, painting, and drawing. Using materials such as sand, cardboard, wood, and acrylic, his tactile practice reveals traces of labor and process-an art in constant negotiation with gravity, impermanence, and the elements.

OASE 111 (Paperback)
OASE 111 (Paperback)
Museums not only facilitate encounters among visitors, objects and stories, but they also facilitate the staging of these visits. They organize tours of the exhibition spaces as well as provide additional publicly accessible spaces, including entrances, corridors, auditoriums and museum cafés. In nineteenth-century monumental art museums, the transition from city to museum interior was dramatized. Climbing the stairs of Schinkel's Altes Museum in Berlin or traversing the pergola between the ponds in Berlage's Kunstmuseum in The Hague urges visitors to leave the everyday world behind. The post-war, 'barrier-free' museum, with squares and streets inside and out, seems to want to abolish this city-museum boundary. At the same time, other internal boundaries are being revised, namely those between front stage and backstage. Depots are being made accessible and visitors can now take a look inside restoration studios. This edition of OASE examines how historical and contemporary buildings

The book is published to accompany a solo exhibition in the Photo Museum of Antwerp in November 2021.Max Pinckers (b. 1988) is a Belgian artist/photographer. Productomschrijving

Rendez-vous is the encounter between Belgian artist Jean-Marie Bytebier and Fontevraud. It's also the public's encounter with his work, presented in two distinct locations: within the permanent collections of the Fontevraud Museum of Modern Art and in the village's former presbytery. The artist has been offered two different exhibition spaces in which to install his works -one a museum with its contemporary exhibition display, the other a domestic setting with 18th-century wood paneling. Some of these works were specially created during an artistic residency at Fontevraud in December 2023, where he was able to immerse himself in the premises, the architecture, and the surrounding nature. Jean-Marie Bytebier (b.1963), lives and works in Mariakerke, Belgium. This book was published alongside the exhibition Rendez-vous at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Fontevraud-Collections Nationales Martine et Léon Cligman, from 23 March to 30 June 2024.
