Seen from the sky, Morocco seems to be a vast chain of mountains, gradually lowering to the sea. The country's rich farmlands - seen here in Arthus-Bertrand's transcendent photographs as abstract canvases painted in deep yellow saffron, or as brown fields of wheat combined with the brilliant green of large groves of palm and olive - are breathtaki...

Wandelgids - Klimgids - Klettersteiggids Via Ferratas of the French Alps | Cicerone
This guidebook covers 66 varied via ferratas in the French Alps. The routes are spread over six areas: Geneva and the Northern Alps, Chambéry, Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys, Grenoble and Briançon, amid the Mont Blanc, Vanoise and Queyras ranges. Difficulty ranges from easy, protected routes through to exposed, technical challenges. Reisverhaal Adventures in Morocco | Alice Morrison
Reisverhaal Adventures in Morocco | Alice Morrison
TV presenter, writer and adventurer Alice Morrison gives her own unique and personal insight into Morocco, the place she's made her home. When Alice Morrison headed out to Morocco, it was to take on one of the most daunting challenges: to run in the famous Marathon des Sables. Little did she expect to end up living there. But once she settled in a flat in Marrakech, she was won over by the people, the spectacular scenery and the ancient alleyways of the souks. Soon she was hiking over the Atlas mountains, joining nomads to sample their timeless way of life as they crossed the Sahara desert, and finding peace in a tranquil oasis. Despite more than 10 million tourists coming to Morocco each year, there are remarkably few books about its people, their customs and the extraordinary range of places to visit, from bustling markets to vast, empty deserts. Alice makes sure she samples it all, and as she does she provides a stunning portrait of a beautiful country. As a lone woman, she often…

Wandelgids Walking in Provence - East | Cicerone
This guide offers 30 circular day walks in the eastern half of Provence, the large sun-kissed coastal region of south-east France. Spanning from the red rocks in the Ésterel on the Mediterranean to high mountains inland, the walks are set in the areas of the Alpes Maritimes, the Alpes de Haute-Provence and the Mercantour. Provence’s sunshine and Mediterranean charm attract many visitors to its coast, yet the area also has much more to offer the walker. The countryside inland boasts a range of scenery from remote mountaintops to spectacular gorges. History is everywhere, in medieval villages, arcaded streets, abbeys, churches and castles.    This guide covers the eastern regions, with its companion volume, Walking in Provence: West, covering the rest of this fascinating and historic landscape. The walking is incredibly diverse, and explores the country that hugs the Côte d'Azur and Italian border. The Alpes Maritimes rise craggy and wild above towns as unique as Grasse, Cannes and Mona…

Wegenkaart - landkaart Mont Blanc & Alpen | ITMB
Wegenkaart - landkaart Mont Blanc & Alpen | ITMB
As far as mountains go, Mont Blanc in France and Italy, forming the border between the two countries, with Switzerland nearby, is the best known and most attractive mountain in the Alps. The peak itself is far too challenging for most climbers to attempt, but the region is dotted with ski lifts, hiking trails in the lower regions, and fascinating scenic villages. Mont Blanc tops out at 4,807.81 metres and is protected by Monte Bianco National Park in Italy. There is a long tunnel underneath the mountain joining France (near Chamonix) and Italy (near Courmayeur) and a beautiful highway along its western side (the D1506) and in Italy along its south side (SS26). There is also a Grande Route long-distance hiking trail that surrounds the mountain. We show it in its entirety, including numerous overnight stopping areas, either in towns or in mountain refuges. Naturally, skiing is a huge draw, and we include several ski lifts, all rail lines in the region, including the fabulous cog line fr…

Productomschrijving

Seen from the sky, Morocco seems to be a vast chain of mountains, gradually lowering to the sea. The country's rich farmlands - seen here in Arthus-Bertrand's transcendent photographs as abstract canvases painted in deep yellow saffron, or as brown fields of wheat combined with the brilliant green of large groves of palm and olive - are breathtakingly beautiful when viewed from above. The sky over Morocco is of an unusually vivid blue, the mountains are crowned by snow peaks in winter, and the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines draw sun worshippers from all of Europe as soon as cold weather strikes the Continent. In Marrakech is concentrated all the culture of the south. Here is a city of a thousand and one nights, its streets teeming by day with magicians, fakirs and clowns, its luxurious palaces and hotels glistening at night with the multilingual babble of elegant visitors from abroad. In Fez, the intellectual centre of the north, are some of the most beautiful Islamic monuments in the world.

But Morocco is changing. The country has become a pioneer in renewable energy, a revolution in progress that can be read in the wind farm near Tangier and the solar power plant Noor in the desert near Ouarzazate, one of the largest in the world. These images and more burst off the pages of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's new book
