Changing Values on Water in Delta Cities (Paperback)
Changing Values on Water in Delta Cities (Paperback)
The thesis develops an empirically tested analytical framework which links value theory with planning and design practices to investigate context-specific spatial transformations as a result of individual and collective value judgements. Four key aspects of water values including flood safety, as well as economic, social and environmental values, are studied, and their interrelationships are discussed. Morphological analyses and value assessments are conducted to explore in what sense spatial changes can be considered an expression of the changing values and what we can learn from it to deal with complex spatial situations. The empirical studies are based on the long-term spatial development of Guangzhou as representative of a historical and rapidly growing delta city in China. Three development stages are illustrated to show different patterns of water-city interactions, the waterways city (before the 1920s) that was mainly structured by natural forces including natural waterways, the

Stadsplattegrond Vancouver & Greater Vancouver | ITMB
Stadsplattegrond Vancouver & Greater Vancouver | ITMB
Stadsplattegrond van Vancouver met een extra inzet op kleinere schaal van het centrum. Met register. Waterproof! ITMB first published our own map of Vancouver six editions and twenty years ago. Each time we update, we're surprised at how much change has taken place. This is a double-sided map, with the city on one side and the metropolitan area on the other side. Like many North American cities, Vancouver consists of several separate urban areas that have merged together physically but not politically. Greater Vancouver's population is 2,500,000, most of which consists of residential areas. The 'regional' side is where the growth in population is taking place (about 100,000 people move to Vancouver each year) and this is where noticeable developments are taking place - the new South Perimeter Road following the Fraser River eastwards, the new Port Mann toll bridge, the new toll Golden Ears toll bridge across the Fraser. None of this will make sense to non-locals, but since most of our…

Reisgids Belarus - Wit Rusland | Bradt Travel Guides
Reisgids Belarus - Wit Rusland | Bradt Travel Guides
Voor vele landen net zo goed, zo niet beter dan de Planet. Beduidend soberder uitgevoerd, maar ook met veel informatie voor backpackers en met veel kaartmateriaal. Een aanrader! This new, thoroughly updated edition of Bradt's Belarus remains the only full-blown standalone guide to the most westerly of the constituent republics that formed the Soviet Union prior to the break-up in 1991. Written and updated by expert author and Russian speaker Nigel Roberts, who has been travelling throughout the country for over 17 years, it is the definitive guide to understanding, and making the most of a visit to this much-misunderstood nation.    Included in this new edition is a detailed focus on the capital city Minsk, the most likely destination for first-time travellers and now becoming a major European capital city thanks to an easing of visa regulations, as well as coverage of each of the other five cities and all six regions. Roberts draws on his years of experience and shares many stories a…
