Wil je inzicht krijgen in de opbouw van een elektrische gitaar zonder dat je vanaf nul moet beginnen met bouwen? Dan is een zelfbouwpakket de perfecte opstap. Deze Boston KIT-LP-45 bevat alle onderdelen die je nodig hebt voor de bouw van een solid body gitaar, tot en met de allerkleinste schroefjes. De mahonie body heeft een esdoorn (flamed maple) archtop die je zelf nog moet afwerken met een lak of vernis naar keuze. Enige kennis van houtbewerking is dus wel nodig, maar al het zaag- en freeswerk is al gebeurd, dus je hebt geen gespecialiseerde apparatuur nodig. De hals is ook van mahonie (die moet je dus ook nog schuren en behandelen) en kreeg een pau ferro toets met speelklaar gemonteerde frets. Ook hardware en elektronica zijn in de prijs inbegrepen, met een tune-o-matic brug, twee humbuckers, vier potmeters en alle bekabeling.

Met dit Boston KIT-TE-45 bouwpakket kan je meteen aan de slag om je eigen elektrische gitaar te maken, zonder dat je dure apparatuur nodig hebt. Alle onderdelen van je instrument zitten erin, klaar om gemonteerd te worden. Het hout - een mahonie body met essen top en een esdoorn hals - is gezaagd en gefreesd, maar moet wel nog behandeld worden. Je hebt dus wel enige kennis van houtbewerking nodig, maar het grote voordeel is natuurlijk dat je helemaal zelf kan bepalen hoe jouw gitaar er uiteindelijk gaat uitzien. De headstock is half paddle, dat wil zeggen dat je de vorm ervan zelf nog kan kiezen, de uitsparingen voor de stemmechanieken zijn wel al voorzien. Op de hals zit een pau ferro toets met de frets al in gemonteerd, lekker gemakkelijk. Hardware en elektronica worden ook netjes meegeleverd, inclusief alle nodige bekabeling.
