They were originally human kings, warriors, and sorcerers full of wisdom and power. However, they were tempted by the ring and turned into ghosts manipulated by Sauron after their bodies dissipated. They wander between reality and shadows. Wherever they go, they bring terror and fear into the hearts of mortals.The Skirmish at Weathertop was a classic scene in the movie.
